Bamako Urban Sector Review : An Engine of Growth and Service Delivery

Bamako Urban Sector Review : An Engine of Growth and Service Delivery
"How can tackling urban and institutional fragmentation help the city of Bamako reach its potential?" A new World Bank Group report finds that Bamako, the capital city of Mali, has an important opportunity to improve its service delivery and expand into a more resilient and productive capital. However, a high level of urban fragmentation is fettering both Bamako's productivity and livability, by hindering access to employment opportunities and driving up the costs of urban infrastructure and services. Therefore, as this report postulates, now is the time for Bamako to make early investments in urban infrastructure that are closely synchronized with long-term planning. This report is a portion of a working paper, by World Bank Senior Economist Megha Mukim, within the World Bank Group's Urban Sector Review. To access the full paper, please click here.
