China’s urbanization over the last three decades has been unprecedented in scale: 260 million migrants have moved to cities from rural areas, supporting the country’s rapid economic growth and development progress. The urbanization study aimed to help China tackle key development challenges: forging a new model of urbanization. The webinar series will address several overarching questions related to China’s urbanization process, such as: How can a new model of urbanization become an engine for higher-quality economic growth? How can reforms to the land, hukou, fiscal, and financial systems reinforce China’s new vision of urbanization? How can more efficient urbanization support China’s future economic transformation?
