Satellites Support Slum Upgrade and Access to Basic Services

"How can informal settlements be mapped from space? Learn how access to basic services can be modeled through best practice use cases."

For most urban areas in developing countries there is very few current or accurate data on the location, extent and the dynamics of informal settlements. Moreover, related information on the level of service deprivation (e.g. water and sanitation access) is often completely missing or limited to small-scale local surveys.  To address these information gaps, satellite data can provide spatially disaggregated information with high spatial and temporal consistency.

Webinar delivered by EO4SD-URBAN project consortium for European Space Agency (ESA) and World Bank Group (WBG). The material is extracted from training material provided by the EO4SD-URBAN project which is funded by the European Space Agency and implemented by GAF AG and Consortium.
