"The COVID-19 pandemic could push about 100 million more people into extreme poverty."
The World Bank Group will provide up to $160 billion through the end of June 2021 to help countries address the health, social, and economic impacts of COVID-19 while maintaining a line of sight to their long-term development goals. This support will be guided by the framework (in the infographic), which can be adapted to local country contexts. Through this approach, we will ensure that our response draws from our comparative advantages, can scale up selectively for impact, and contributes to our goals of ending extreme poverty and promoting shared prosperity.
