Knowledge Note

Food shortages, supply-chain bottlenecks, grain-storage problems—these are some of the Food Security issues that the World Bank Group programs are addressing in countries around the world. The work being done includes, among other things, developing and embedding a food strategy into a longer-term poverty-alleviation strategy in Nepal, providing innovative remedies for ineffective storage practices in India, and creating a comprehensive approach to food importation for Arab countries. These projects offer a range of experiences and insights that may be helpful for others involved in Food Security projects when it comes to working in post-conflict settings or with multiple stakeholders as well as improving the supply chain to efficiently address food security issues.
