Afghanistan is highly prone to intense and recurring natural hazards such as floods, landslides and droughts due to its geographical location and years of environmental degradation. Climate change also poses a threat to Afghanistan’s natural resources, of which the majority of Afghans depend for their livelihoods. Learn how the World Bank, with the support of Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) and the Disaster Risk Management Hub in Tokyo, is building resilience through an on-going disaster risk management program that informs and leverages ongoing sector work in transport, education and social development in the challenging context of Afghanistan.
