"Successfully improving both routine and COVID-19 immunization must consider behavioral drivers of uptake and delivery."
Health officials around the world are preparing supply chains and health systems to roll out new COVID-19 vaccines in the coming months. At the same time, immunization progress over the past several years has stalled. While logistical considerations are essential, successfully improving both routine and COVID-19 immunization must consider behavioral drivers of uptake and delivery.
Pascaline Dupas, Co-Chair of Health at J-PAL and Professor of Economics at Stanford University, presents policy lessons on effectively motivating people to take up immunization as well as strengthening vaccine delivery. Drawn from rigorous research around the world, these lessons can help inform the design of effective vaccine programs that increase both routine immunizations and, hopefully, COVID-19 vaccination.
