Ethiopia: Creating Good Policies that Support Climate Migrants

Meet Wolde, a 28-year-old from Ethiopia. After leaving a drought-stricken part of his country, he moved to the city of Hawassa and enrolled in Ethiopia’s extensive urban safety net program, where he receives a small salary for supervising street cleaners. Since moving, Wolde has been able to start a new life and provide for his family. According to a new World Bank report, without action, Sub-Saharan Africa could see more than 86 million climate migrants by 2050.
