"Showcasing and reflecting on the support that was provided through the EO4SD Climate activity in the integration of earth observation technologies."
Satellite Earth Observation (EO) technology has major potential to inform and facilitate international development work in a globally consistent manner. Since 2008, the European Space Agency (ESA) has worked closely together with the International Financing Institutions (IFIs) and their client countries to harness the benefits of EO in their operations and resources management.
EO4SD – Earth Observation for Sustainable Development – is an ESA initiative that aims to achieve an increase in the uptake of satellite-based environmental information in the IFI's regional and global programs. This session focuses on the Climate Resilience component of the initiative. Through the presentation of several successful use cases followed by a discussion on lessons and insights, the session informs the way forward with the new phase of the partnership – and in particular, its core component, the Global Development Assistance program.
Note: Unfortunately the recording does not cover the full extent of the event due to an unexpected network connection issue during the event.
