Egypt has experienced improvements in health outcomes over the past two decades, including a halving of the infant mortality and malnutrition among children under five, and an increase in life expectancy from 64 to 71 years. Real GDP grew 5.3 percent in FY10, which was an increase from FY09’s 4.7 percent, but below the 7 percent growth from FY06–FY08. Nearly a fifth of the population live below national poverty line
