Digital Ag Series: The Power of Partnerships – Opportunities to Transform the Food System via Innovating Soil 3.0

"There is an urgent need to shift global agricultural production systems from extractive to restorative practices that establish soil as the foundation for a healthier, more sustainable, and more equitable 21st-century food system"

When FoodShot Global launched its first FoodShot, Innovating Soil 3.0, the organization made a long-term commitment to building and implementing a new soil operating system. There remains an urgent need to shift global agricultural production systems from extractive to restorative practices that establish soil as the foundation for a healthier, more sustainable, and more equitable 21st-century food system. After the first cycle, the organization did a “deep dive” on how to fill key gaps and support innovations that have the maximum potential for scale and global impact. With new FoodShot, Innovating Soil 3.0: DeepDive, they are seeking applications and nominations that address 3 innovation priorities:  soil carbon measurement, microbiome functionality, and rapid adoption of regenerative practices.

FoodShotGlobal’s leadership share insights on systems investing in food and agriculture and discuss how the organization’s collaborative model is accelerating progress on their first FoodShot, Innovating soil.  The winners of the inaugural GroundBreaker Prize talk about how they have leveraged the prize and advances in science, digital tools, and technology to improve soil health, sequester carbon, and support farmer livelihoods.  Finally, FoodShot Global will detail current funding availability and opportunities for future long-term partnerships to build a healthy, sustainable, and equitable food system.

FoodShot Global is a non-profit investment platform that brings together a global consortium of mission-aligned venture funds, banks, corporations, universities, family offices, and foundations to catalyze innovation for a healthier, more sustainable, and more equitable food system.
