Building Stronger Rural Communities in Afghanistan

The Afghanistan Rural Enterprise Development program aims to enhance economic mobilization and activities by organizing the rural poor into Saving Groups and Village Saving and Loan Associations. It is supported by the International Development Association (IDA), the World Bank Group’s fund for the poorest countries, and the Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund (ARTF). Villagers with no previous means of livelihood are being given an opportunity to earn a living through loans from local village associations, allowing them to invest in income generating activities.

this scheme changes the mindset of the society, where society's self supervision is required to ensure the properness of use of the society's self-financing sources
