Knowledge Note

A low-carbon industry project in Bangladesh is aiming to reduce the carbon footprint of the country’s export processing zones (EPZs). The goal is to assist the government in establishing guidelines and policies that encourage firms within EPZs to consume less energy and reduce up to 15 percent of carbon dioxide equivalent, a standard unit for measuring carbon footprints. Improved efficiency will also contribute to the competitiveness of industries applying these measures.
