In January 2014, Cyclone Ian hit Ha'apai, one of Tonga's main groups of islands. This was one of the strongest cyclones ever to hit Tonga, damaging 80% of houses in Ha'apai. The World Bank is providing support so communities not only build back their homes, but also helping make them climate-proof.
