Accelerating Sustainability through Tech Innovation

The need to adopt more sustainable paradigms around the world is urgent.  Modern technology is helping “disrupt” traditional sustainability challenges.  How can the scaling-up of these technologies be further enhanced through competitive Tech Accelerators?

Come and learn about an approach being used in the Sustaintech Xcelerator being organized by DBS and other partners (including Google, NUS, Temasek, Verra and the World Bank) to work with the nascent private sector to address global sustainability challenges such as climate and biodiversity.    The 2021 cohort of this accelerator will be presented where finalists will share how they leverage AI- and climate science models, remote sensing and IoT technologies among others to increase investor and buyer confidence in nature-based solutions (NbS) –– through improved monitoring and verification of their environmental, social and economic impacts.  The process of going from a global call in December 2020 to an intensive mentoring process for 6 months for the five selected for this year’s Cohort from 300 registrations from 60 countries will also be described.

The Sustaintech Xcelerator 2021 Cohort:

  • Cloud Agronomics - a climate-tech company on a mission to become the standard for quantifying sustainable outcomes on agricultural land.
  • FARM-TRACE - a software platform which delivers verified reforestation impacts created by farmers to brands wanting to reduce their climate footprints.
  • Rainforest Connection (RFCx) - the world’s first scalable, real-time acoustic monitoring system for protecting and studying remote ecosystems.
  • Sylvera - a software that brings clarity to the carbon markets by building tools to help businesses ensure that carbon offsets purchased are authentic.
  • Treevia - a technology company that brings forest monitoring and sustainability together by connecting forests around the world to the internet.

This session will be in English with simultaneous translation to French and Spanish.
