About the GFDRR-funded DRM Program in Djibouti

As part of the GFDRR funded DRM program in Djibouti, the Comprehensive Approach to Risk Assessment in Djibouti (CARAD) was launched in 2009 under the leadership of the MoF and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. The main achievements of this program are: (i) the completion of the new national preparedness plan (Plan ORSEC); (ii) the upgrade of the alarm system in the Ambouli wadi to a full-scale Early Warning System; (iii) the establishment of a disaster risk management e-learning laboratory that has trained 40 people to date; (iv) the acquisition on 5 hydro-meteorological stations, and (v) the completion of an urban risk assessment and communication platform.
