11.Korea Office BBL - Geospatial Approaches to Green Growth and Land Administration

"Successful reforms that addressed land redistribution, expropriation, informal settlements, and land disputes were critical"

Korea has considerable experience with the use of geospatial information systems (GIS) to promote green growth and effective land administration. Government policies and reforms contributed to economic and social development over the decades since the Korean War in the 1950s, helping the country transition from a post-conflict situation. Successful reforms that addressed land redistribution, expropriation, informal settlements, and land disputes were critical to the transition.

As part of the Advisory Services and Analytics (ASA) project “Geospatial Approaches for Fostering Green Growth in FCV by sharing the Innovative Experience of Korea”, funded by the Korean Green Growth Trust Fund (KGGTF), Seoul National University has conducted a study of Korean experience with GIS, in collaboration with Seoul Urban Solutions Agency, Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation.

This BBL includes:

- Presentation by Seoul National University on the Korean experience in addressing informal settlements (Gwangju Resettlement Town) and implementation of Farmland Reform

- Presentation by Seoul Urban Solutions Agency, Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation on the use of geospatial technology to promote Green Growth

This webinar is part of the Korea office innovation and technology webinar series and is organized by the Urban GP.
